I have been practicing adult, child and adolescent psychiatry for close to twenty years. I have dedicated my career to understanding the full spectrum of black women and families’ experiences, challenges, and strengths. Upholding the consciousness of our great country and communities comes with great reward, the respective sacrifices we make impact our happiness, health, and family functioning. As Black Women, we have achieved success but remain exhausted by racism, gender inequities, health disparities and violence. When is it our time to experience an unburdened life you may ask? I sometimes ask this myself.
I wrote this book with my Grandmothers, Mothers, Aunties, Sisters and Friend Girls in mind because I care for us and want us to WIN!
Teachings in this book include ways to better understand our Needs and Wants and how to recover from family hurt and trauma. This book also specifically addresses the Six-Factor Black Woman’s Health Trap and provides numerous wellness recommendations on emotional health, physical wellness and safe relationships.
